HC’s Spicy Ginger Tea
- Ingredients
- 8 c. water
- 6 inches fresh ginger
- Zest and juice of a lime
- * (Optional 1 ½ teaspoons of cayenne, 1 cinnamon stick, 10 cloves)
- **sweeten to taste with either honey or raw sugar if you like
- Instructions
- Peel the ginger and cut into thin slices to expose more ginger to the water.
- Place all (spices if using) sliced ginger in a pot, cover with cool water and simmer for at least 25 minutes. Filter through a strainer (or just pour the tea off – you barely need the strainer).
- Add lime zest and juice and sweeten if you like

- * More ginger definitely makes it spicier!
- * Boiling the ginger right in the water makes a much darker tea with more intense flavor as compared to steeping in hot water, and obviously longer time also increases the flavor.
